"As she rode through the hills, through ripening harvest and fertilizing rain, she was aware, with greater and greater pain, of how far she had come."

-The Mists of Avalon

This picture sums up a large portion of how Gina and I have spent this last week. Lots of Sex and the City. Lots of wine. I couldn't fit the piano or long walks into this picture, but if I could've I would've. I start my job tomorrow morning. Sigh. Gina started her job yesterday, working at a diner. We will miss being unemployed... well, all of it except for the "not having any money" thing. It has been a very low-key kind of week, and I did my best to cherish every moment.

Drew, one of my peeps from the sock store, came over last night armed with Season 3 of Sex and the City (yayyyyyy), a bag of chocolate-covered cherries (Mmmmm), and a Billy Joel CD. (Oooooh yeah). We've both been really stressed about alot of things and ended up spending several hours just hanging out and talking and eating and coloring (I'm wild with those crayons) and I gave him a mini-recital, and it was all around just really mellow and fun. Then I put on Sex and the City until I couldn't stay awake anymore.

This morning Gina and I got up and watched a couple of hours of, you guess it, Sex and the City. Then we decided to walk up the street to this little Mexican Resteraunt and eat yummy food. Then we went to get coffee, then we went to the store. It was sooooo nice out and a perfect day to be walking around. We came back home and I did a whole lot of nothing, and Gina cleaned the kitchen. It was so nice out that I decided I wanted to walk more, so I walked downtown and wandered around the city for awhile. It was nice. I got on the bus at one point and took some time to just ride around Seattle and listen to my ipod and get lost in the Zone De Erin. Then I walked back home. Now I'm here, watching, well, by now you can probably guess what I'm watching, and I'm doing my best to savor my last day of being unemployed.

The seasons are changing right now. You can see it everywhere. This is one of my favorite times of the year.

You Are a Black and White Cookie

You're often conflicted in life, and you feel pulled in two opposite directions.
When you're good, you're sweet as sugar. And when you're bad, you're wicked!

Pictures will arrive later today!

It is my last day of unemployment, therefore I am going to do ANOTHER survey thing. AND I'm going to post another blog later today. I finally got my camera charger, (thanks sister), so its going to be a photo blog, but I still have more pictures to take. I know I know, the suspense is killing you... but try to maintain control.

-The Little Prince

My first day of work is Saturday and I'm trying to enjoy every last minute of unemployment. Gina has been helping me.

"I guess that which does not kill you makes you stronger... or... uh... means you're still not dead."

-Amber

I don't have anything to say, especially since I just posted a couple of hours ago. But Amber and I were talking and I really just needed to share that opening quote with the world. I'm sad that you all couldn't hear the tone of her voice while she said it, but hey, life isn't always fair.

For all of you Lost fans, that quote was a result of the part where Sayid has to hold a match to Charlie's head-wound.

This is the best show ever.

"We swore to ourselves we'd go to the end of the world but I got caught up in the whirl, the twirl of it all, baby I'm so sorry..."

-The Indigo Girls, Fugitive

I had a job interview this morning and I finally got a freakin job. Yay, maybe now I can start buying food again!

Then I wandered around the city, then I came home and Gina and I analyzed ourselves. Now Amber and I are finishing up the last disc of Season 1 of Lost. Tonight I'm going to Kat's for some much needed Gal-time.

Dad just called and said he is going to be here this weekend, so I guess the Zachlet and I can finally practice our Trumpet/Piano magic.

That's all. Must go watch Lost now.

"WIthout warning, I feel this brewing in my head, its like a storm, I feel this restlessness, I think of you and stormy weather..."

-Kate and Steve, The Best You Can

Every time I'm chatting with Meagan I always end up giggling and loving our conversations. I recently set up a gmail account, solely to talk with Meagan-face, and gmail saves chats, so now whenever I'm feeling down, I just read over our chats and they always make me feel a little better. Yay for gmail.

So I was just reading through our chat from last night and I was finding myself quite amused. And since I made the recent decision to try to make this blog less personal, I will now share a small segment of the chat I had with Meagan last night. Enjoy!

me: I left my camera charger in Alaska, but Katie is mailing it.
What are you doing?
Besides laundry?
Meagan: Downloading all the songs that I can find online by Kermit the frog
because kermit is my hero
me: Awwwww... I love Kermit! I used to have the "Rainbow Connection" record and I'd play it on my fisher price record player and stand on the fire place and pretend it was a stage, and i'd sing for whoever would listen.
Yes, I've ALWAYS been this cool.
Meagan: I would do that now. Let's do that together sometime soon.
me: I was also very good at "Somehwere out there"
Oh, we should soooooo do that!
Meagan: awww Feivel!
me: I LOVED Feivel!
Meagan: I don't know how to spell Feivel. Like nauseas
me: Ooops, not 'loved", I meant "love"
Yeah, I don't know how to spell it either, I was just taking my lead from you. :)
Meagan: :-D
me: I'm drinking wine out of a Sleepytime Tea mug. My mom questioned me on why I wasn't using a wine glass, and I said "Because its harder to tip over a mug", and she seemed satisfied with that answer.
Meagan: uh oh! i'm back!
me: Here, i'll copy and paste what I just wrote. Because it was very important:
I'm drinking wine out of a Sleepytime Tea mug. My mom questioned me on why I wasn't using a wine glass, and I said "Because its harder to tip over a mug", and she seemed satisfied with that answer.
Meagan: (i went to look up Feivel on imdb.com and I guess when you browse away from gmail it closes your chat)
me: there. Isn't that important?
Meagan: EEEP!!! Kermit's commerical is on tv right now
Anything in a mug is better
me: Were we spelling Feivel right?
Meagan: I don't know. I got so worried about leaving you and you thinking I disappeared for good that I came right back.
me: :)
Meagan: Anything in a mug is better. I especially like milk in a mug
Are you busy right now?
me: Nope. Just chillin.
My mom is grading things and laughing at Ernie, and Ernie is very focused on how to get around the portfolios... so I have time to kill.
Meagan: ...you have time to kill because Ernie is busy?
:-)
me: Yeah, we were going to play scrabble, but I guess him and I will have to do that tomorrow.
Meagan: haha
me: Its okay. He always wins anyways.
We're watching Gilmore Poodles.
Meagan: i'm watching american idol.
me: We only got to watch the first hour of RENT, because my mom has homework. Isn't that cute?
Meagan: or would that be american poodles
me: heehee, it depends on the people that are on the show.
Meagan: Cute that your mom has homework? And you don't! Heehee.
wow. we both typed the obnoxious "heehee" at the same time. we suck
me: its finals week for her. I don't miss finals week.
I have a confession: At the beginning of that last sentence, I origionally had "heehee" at the beginning. Then your message popped up about it and I erased it. Gah.
;)
Meagan: :-) I just made a sound that sounded sort of like haayyeaaa
me: I'm glad you typed it out for me. because now i'm laughing.
Meagan: don't distract your mum
:-)
me: Oh, she is very undistractable.
Meagan: hmmm let's see....what else can i tell you.....
me: the meaning of life.
Meagan: I don't really have anything excting to say tonight.... sorry
the meaning of life. hmmm.

You're probably wondering "Did Meagan and Erin figure out the meaning of life, or not?"

You may never know...

An announcement to all of my adoring fans:

My blog might seem a bit shallow for awhile. I'm going to try to make it less personal for the time being... so I think I'll just devote my blog to various tangents about various things that really don't matter at all, to anybody.

Tangent #1: Am I the only one who knows that when you're walking up/down a stairway, you're supposed to stay to your right? It seems so easy, and it would help to avoid so many "oops, sorry, excuse me" moments if people could just STAY TO THE RIGHT!!! Seriously, is this not a common-sense issue? I mean, when I was in elementary school and they would march us off to lunch and we would go down the big stairway, we knew to stay to the right! And we were second-graders.

Hmph.

"This sick strange darkness comes creeping up so haunting every time..."

-Blink 182, I Miss You

I don't have anything to say and I'm not in the mood to blog, but I'm blogging so that the last blog entry that I wrote isn't at the very top, because it's depressing.

Amber and I went to the Unitarian church this morning. It was nice I guess, even though I wasn't even really paying attention. I spent the majority of the service looking at the rays of sun on the floor next to me. There must've been a tree blowing in the wind outside or something, because the rays of sun were moving back and forth and they were really pretty. And yeah... that really is what I was looking at the whole time that I was there. Luckily I was sitting right by the window, so I doubt that anybody noticed.

Then we came back here and watched Lost for a really long time. I was planning on practicing, but I have an awful headache and the sound of the piano just makes it worse.

There. I blogged. Yay for me.

"I am writing graffiti on your body, I am drawing the story of how hard we tried"

-Ani Difranco, Both Hands

I know that everything happens for a reason, but it seems that reason has an interesting way of hiding behind things that seem unfair and that don't make any sense.

Blah.

"I was about to say that he was an angel, but then he looked like a devil and now I'm confused."

-Amber, about John Locke, at the end of Lost, Episode 3, Season 1.

Amber and I are watching Lost and we just promised eachother that if we ever needed to shoot eachother, we would shoot eachother in the head and not try to aim for the heart. It was kind of a big moment for us.

I love watching Amber right now. She is going through exactly what I went through the first time that I watched Lost. A constant back-and-forth between figuring out the plot and being incredibly confused. I am finding it highly entertaining.

I miss Ernie.

Today's horoscope:
Don't sell yourself short -- in fact, make sure you're not giving parts of yourself away. Not only do you deserve credit for all your hard work, you deserve far more respect and appreciation than you've been getting.

Now, back to the show.

"I said 'you seem calm for a man who is disappearing'... he said it was a relief after years of trying to keep the pieces of his life in one place"

-Brian Andreas

Its been a few days since I updated. So here I go.

I saw Scotty and Rebecca a few days ago. We watched movies and giggled about nothing and it was fun. I feel very lucky to live so close to them.

Gina lives here now, and it is absolutely fabulous to have her here.

Today was long. I woke up at 3:30 AM, (not sure why), read my book, wrote in my journal, talked to Gina, Cried alot (blah blah blah), spent several hours walking around downtown looking for work and loving Seattle, came back to the apartment and hung out with Amber and Gina. Then I chatted online with Meagan, which was nice.

I'm so tired. Of so much stuff.

I think its safe to say that everything in my life is changing and its alot to handle and people always tell me how strong I am, but all I want to do is hide under my covers. For like, 10 million years.

And... yeah... that is all I want to write at the moment.

Update accomplished.

"If I were a hammer..."

-Me, kind of.

My mom told me that I had to do this. So here it is.

If I were a natural phenomenon, I would be… A Sunrise
If I were a metal, I would be…Silver.
If I were an animal, I would be…A Cat (I love dogs, but I would be a cat)
If I were a color, I would be…Bluish Purple.
If I were a mythological being, I would be…(I don't know enough about mythological beings... sorry)
If I were a human activity, I would be…Walking
If I were a work of art, I would be… Compostion VII by Kandinsky
If I were a weapon, I would be…Fire
If I were an emotion, I would be…Reflective (Is that an emotion?)
If I were a character in a book, I would be…The Rose, in The Little Prince
If I were an article of clothing, I would be…Cozy Sweatshirt. (And the sweatshirt would probably have a few stains on it).
If I were a flower, I would be…Um... I really don't know enough about flowers, but I would want to be one of those dark dark purple ones. Whatever they're called.

"In the morning, I get up from my bed, gusty storm and clouds across my head, I think of you and how I used to be when we were young without a worry"

-Kate and Steve

I had mucho fun-o in Alaska. I don't think that Katie and I have been able to have that much one-on-one sister time since... well... hm... its been a really long time, lets just put it that way. We ate lots of food, (Well, I ate lots of food anyways), had some drinks, listened to good music, and I FINALLY got to meet John! I didn't want the vacation to end. I miss my sister.

I arrived at the Alaska airport at midnight, and Katie took me directly to the Polar Bar where we each had a drink, then we went home and went to sleep. The next morning we got up and set out to get food and to meet one of Katie's friends, along with her friend's baby and doggy-munchkin-nose.

Next we went to the grocery store to get enough food for the next year. I mean, week. Did I say "year"? Hm, weird.

That night we headed out to a couple of bars. I know that you are all probably SHOCKED that Katie wanted to take me to Alaska bars, but hey, unexpected things happen every day!

The next day was pretty chill. We went out to breakfast, hung out and watched Sex and The City, and Katie's friend came over with her baby and we watched Sideways, which was a great movie.

Then, once again, off to the bars!

The next day was the Iditarod, aka PUPPY DAY!!! We were joined by Julie and Michael and it was a very fun morning, even though my feet were literally numb.

The last few days are a blurry collection of fun. We went to a great bar in a really nice hotel and the bartender was really cool and gave us some free drinks! Here is one that he made that is called "Sex with a Polar Bear". He said he usually doesn't make it because it takes so long, but I guess he couldn't resist the Pez-Sister charm. Hey, can you blame him?

We went to an Oscar Party at Katie's friend's house. The house was very cozy, and it was so fun to watch the Oscars with Katie! This was a favorite past time of ours growing up, so we were happy poodles.

I gave a little recital for Katie's friends. I think they liked it, and I had fun playing. Afterwards, we went out to a little blues club to hear a band play. It was a great place, I could've stayed all night.

Although I could've stayed all night, I didn't. We went home and Katie introduced me to Lost. Oh my gosh, I am SO addicted to that show. Here is how I spent the last 48 hours of my trip. (Seriously).

I finished watching the entire first season of Lost about an hour before I had to leave for the airport on Wednesday. That left Katie and I just enough time for her to scrape off her car and drive to some pretty lookout places.

I had the best time ever. Because I have the best sister ever.

Now I'm in my room, waiting for GINA! She lives here now! She will be here within the hour. Then I'm going to go to the library so I can print out my resume, then I'm going to try to find a job so I can buy food. Yay.
