"We find her singing quietly to herself... a song about how many ways her life has changed and how she would like to get her feet back on the ground."

-House of Leaves

Well folks, I spent a few hours today practicing and got absolutely nowhere. My only comfort is that every music-poodle that I know has had days (or months or years) like the day I had today, where you wonder "When did I forget how to do what I'm supposed to be great at", and you have a huge mix of sadness and anger and guilt. It is really freakin great. Really. It is. No sarcasm here. Anyways, after I realized that it was physically impossible for me to learn anything new, I decided to play through some pieces that I already knew. Nothing too hard, just some pieces that would remind me that at one point I did infact know how to play piano. Excpet that plan back-fired when I couldn't even make it through those without wanting break things. I couldn't even make it through the Brahms Intermezzo in A Major, and that is my favorite piece!!! Sigh...

Anyways, here is yet another survey that I stole from Meagan's blog. I just can't get enough of these things. Maybe I'll quit piano and be a professional blogger. At this point, it seems like a much more promising and realistic goal. Double sigh.

-When was the last time you went to the bathroom outside?
A couple of weeks ago when I was in Ashland. Those walks back from the bar can be a little too long sometimes.

-Which family member do you most resemble?
In looks? Without question, my brother. It is terrifying how much we look alike. As a person? Hopefully my mom... but I'm not sure.

-Do you wear cologne/perfume?
On days that I don't work I wear lotiony stuff, but my boss doesn't like us to wear scents, so if I work then I don't wear lotiony stuff. Wow, that was a very well-constructed sentence.

-Do you wear deodorant?
Yes. (?)

-Do you ‘clean up nice’?
Yes I do clean up "nice", but I don't clean up "often".

-When was the last time you tripped and fell?
First off to Meagan, your answer to this made me laugh soooo hard. I trip and fall so often that I'm sure I have fallen many times that I'm not remembering, but my last clear memory of tripping and falling was my last morning living in Ashland. It was really icy but I had packed my coffee maker and needed my caffeine fix. I seriously nearly killed myself walking to Starbucks. I must've fallen at least five times. I felt like a total idiot. And a total addict. Oh well.

-Where was the last place you slept besides your home?
Karli's house in Ashland.

-What are you listening to right now?
The Garden State soundtrack. Go buy it if you don't have it. Its great!

-Have you ever started an uncontrollable fire?
Nooooo. But I almost did when I lived with Rachal and accidently put foil in the microwave. Woops.

-Ever run out of gas on the road?
Um, lets see... no.

-Would you rather cut the grass or rake the leaves?
Rake leaves, because I have mowed the lawn soooo many times but I have never ever raked leaves. Just remember kids, never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker.

-Your name spelled backwards?
Nire. Interesting.

-What is the last thing you downloaded onto your computer?
I'm not sure I've downloaded anything. Oh wait, I downloaded my free-trial version of AOL!

-Last time you swam in a pool?
Last Sunday at Maly's good-bye party.

-Have you ever been in a school play?
Yeah, I was in a couple of them in a high school. And I played the xylophone and the recorder in an elementary school production. Broadway, here I come!

-How many kids do you want?
Zero. I can't support myself, how am I supposed to support a kid?

-Type of music you dislike the most?
Bad rap. I like good rap, but there is some awful awful rap out there right now. Ick. And I don't mean that it has to be tasteful, because I'm all for non-tasteful stuff if it is done right. But if there's no talent, then get out of my speakers!

-You registered to vote?
I just realized yesterday that I'm not now that I'm in Washington. I'll get on it right away.

-You have cable?
Yes for the internet, no for the TV.

-Ever prank call anybody?
Probably, but I don't remember.

-Best friends?
I hate the idea of putting some friends above others. I love all of them in different ways for different reasons. Yay.

-Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving?
Sure.

-Do you have a garden?
Are you kidding? I have my hands full with Ashlee Simpson!

-What’s your favorite comic strip?
I haven't read the comics in a very long time, but I always liked Garfield. We have the same sense of humor.

-Bath or shower, morning or night?
I prefer to shower in the morning, but I shower at night if I work at Old Navy in the morning.

-Best movie you’ve seen in the past month?
Man, I don't even know if I've watched a whole movie in the past month...

-Favorite pizza topping?
Peppers and Mushrooms. Mmmmmmm....

-Chips or popcorn?
Chips!

-What color lipstick do you usually wear?
Usually something dark, to match my soul.

-Have you ever smoked peanut shells?
Uh, no, but the person who wrote this survey probably has!

-Orange juice or apple?
Orange Juice please.

-Favorite type of chocolate bar?
Milky Way Midnight.

-When was the last time you voted at the polls?
I've only voted by mail.

-Last time you ate a homegrown tomato?
Probably when I was at my mommy's house.

-Are you a good cook?
I'm good at baking, but I don't have much experience with cooking.

-Ever order anything from an infomercial?
Nope

-Sprite or 7-Up?
7-up

-Have you ever had to wear a uniform to work?
Yes, at a few different jobs.

-Ever thrown up in Public?
Yes. And boy am I proud of that!

-Would you prefer being a millionaire or finding true love?
Okay, am I the most shallow person in the world for answering "millionaire"? I mean, love is great and I'm not brushing it off completely, but I would gladly exchange "the love of my life" for some run-of-the-mill lovers if it meant I could be a millionaire. Sue me. (And hey, if I was a millionaire, you really COULD sue me! See?)

-Do you believe in love at first sight?
I don't think so, but I really really really believe in InsaneCrazyChemistry at first sight.

-Can ex’s be friends?
Hmmm, do I technicially even HAVE an ex-boyfriend? Not sure... but if you're asking if "guys that you were at one point involved with before you realized that they had a girlfriend in the wings" can be friends, then... I think so. I think they can. I'll let you know how it turns out.

-Who was the last person you visited in a hospital?
I honestly can't recall... which I think is a very good thing.

-What message is on your answering machine?
Something short, unoriginal and boring.

-What do you think about the most?
I alternate between obsessing about the fact that I'll never be financially stabe and the thought that I am the poorest excuse for a music student that there ever was.

-Favorite form of travel?
A row boat. Okay, not really, but I'm reading The Mists of Avalon and I've been fantasizing about taking a nap in a row boat next to a waterfall. Because I'm really cool.

-Ever drink rotten milk?
Not on purpose... gag.

-What do you think of the person who posted this ahead of you?
I think that I miss her very very very very very very very very much!!!

"Every time it rains she just feels alot better..."

-The Counting Crows

Fwd: A Picture Share!

I spent the whole day practicing and then Amber and I walked downtown to get ice cream. The walk felt soooo good because it was rainy and gray and cloudy and I love that kind of weather and so does Amber, so we were very happy poodles. We went to Coldstone and ate our ice cream, then walked back home. The city is sooo pretty in the rain, especially in the evening. Now I think Amber and I are going to spend the evening listening to classical music and being artsy. Oh, and PS, my room is still a total and complete mess. But hey, the world wasn't built in a day, right?

Fwd: A Picture Share!

Fwd: A Picture Share!

Fwd: A Picture Share!
I'd rather be a rat and a chipmunk than a skunk and a porcupine.

"I hope she'll be a fool - that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."

-The Great Gatsby

I now have the first two movements of my Beethoven Sonata learned. That doesn't mean that they are by any means ready to play for anyone but Sugar and Lugsy, but at least they are coming along. I have today off so I'm going to hopefully learn the third movement by the time the day is over. And I need to go get my schedule from Old Navy so I know when I have to go in tomorrow. I could actually just call, but the walk would probably be kinda nice. And if I'm feeling REALLY adventurous, maybe I'll even clean my room today! That would be pretty gosh darn amazing.

You Are Likely a Third Born

At your darkest moments, you feel vulnerable.
At work and school, you do best when you're comparing things.
When you love someone, you tend to like to please them.

In friendship, you are loyal to one person.
Your ideal careers are: sales, police officer, newspaper reporter, inventor, poet, and animal trainer.
You will leave your mark on the world with inventions, poetry, and inspiration.

It worked for me! And I've always wanted to be an inventor or a police officer!

Have you heard the acoustic version of this song? It is amazing.

I went to your house
Walked up the stairs
I opened your door without ringing the bell
I walked down the hall
Into your room
Where I could smell you

And I
Shouldn't be here
Without permission
Shouldn't be here

Would you forgive me love
If I danced in your shower
Would you forgive me love
If I laid in your bed
Would you forgive me love
If I stay all afternoon

I took off my clothes
Put on your robe
Went through your drawers and I found your cologne
Went down to the den

Found your CD's
And I played your Journey
And I
Shouldn't stay long
You might be home soon
I Shouldn't stay long

Would you forgive me love
If I danced in your shower
Would you forgive me love
If I laid in your bed
Would you forgive me love
If I stay all afternoon

I burned your incense
I ran a bath
I noticed a letter that sat on your desk
It said hello love
I love you so love
Meet me at midnight
And no
It wasn't my writing
I better go soon
It wasn't my writing

So forgive me love
If I cry in your shower
So forgive me love
For the salt in your bed
So forgive me love
If I cry all afternoon

Um, yeah. I'm a just a wee bit hormonal. Can you tell?

"I take a breath and pull the air until there's nothing left..."

-The Postal Service, Recycled Air

I just finished yet another 8 hour day, but it is all good because now I have two days off! Thank goddess...

I guess I'm going through a quiz phase, because here is yet ANOTHER one that I stole from Rebecca's blog. Enjoy! Or something...

List Three
A. List three things on your desk:
1. A pin that says "I prefer girls" (I get soooo much joy when I wear it)!
2. A yellow glass that I've been meaning to wash for about two weeks.
3. A pen that says "We'll be back for s'mores". I got it at Camp Namanu MANY years ago and it still works!!!

B. List three things you are wearing:
1. White boxers with red flowers on them.
2. An old t-shirt
3. My glasses (If you are thinking "Erin is ready for bed", then congratulations, you are right)!

C. List the last 3 things you ate:
1. Orange Juice. Mmmmmmm.
2. Bean and Bacon soup. It was on sale.
3. A piece of bread. I have no food and I was still hungry. Sigh.

D. List the last 3 people you touched:
1. Erin. (I'm not talking in the third person, I'm referring to my boss at work).
2. Drew, right before I pushed him around the store on the handtruck.
3. The guy that was sitting next to me on the bus. I had to get off and he had his headphones on, so I had to tap him on the shoulder.

E. List three things you'd love to own:
1. A CD burner
2. A high quality keyboard
3. Tower Records. (Hey, shush, a girl can dream).

You Are a Martini

There's no other way to say it: you're a total lush.
You hold your liquor well, and you hold a lot of it!

Sorry mommy...

"Round and round and round in the circle game.."

-Joni Mitchell

The coolest weirdest thing just happened! I was going to catch the bus home after my eight hour shift at the sock store, and as usual I was walking in a daze. I saw this gal on the street and thought to myself, "Wow, she looks JUST like Kai!" (Kai was a friend of mine in the SOU music department). As I got closer, I realized that it WAS Kai! I was so shocked that I didn't even say anything. I just stood there and stared at her, and then she stopped and just stared at me. It was hilarious because we didn't do the whole run-up-and-hug thing, we just looked at eachother with matching expressions that said "What the hell are you doing here?" After we stared at eachother for a minute we both remembered how to talk, and we just kept laughing because it was so odd to run into eachother. Anyways, it turns out that she lives here, and has since January! And that means that Ben lives here too! I'm sooooo excited about this! And as long as we're on the subject, Gina left me a message yesterday saying that she has been thinking about it alot and that she thinks she wants to move to Seattle this summer!

I got a call from Kat today. I was at work when she called and besides, I'm out of daytime minutes until my next billing cycle starts, but I'm going to call her back tonight. Hopefully we can hang out soon.

I work another 8 hour shift tomorrow, then I finally have a day off so I can get in some quality practicing. Speaking of which, time to go work on my Beethoven Sonata!

"Even if things end up a bit to heavy we'll all float on..."

-Modest Mouse

Despite the fact that I worked from 7 AM to 6:30 PM today with virturally no break in between, I somehow still had a pretty good day. It was a nice day in the city, one of those days where there is just a really good vibe in the air and I walk around thinking "I am SO glad that I moved here". And it is fun working in Westlake Center because I'm getting to that point where I'm starting to know people from the other stores and soon you're running into people that you know everywhere you go.

"As she stared into the fogs and mists, she wondered how she would ever know when the night and day were of equal length."

-Marion Zimmer Bradley

I am a very tired poodle. I went to bed at a reasonable time last night, somewhere around 11 PM, thinking that I could get a decent amount of sleep before I had to get up at 5:35 AM for work. But instead, I had an awful nightmare that I was visiting my mom's house with my brother and
sister-face, and they were all asleep in my mom's house and the house caught on fire, and I was outside and I knew that they were all hard sleepers and that they would sleep through the fire and die. So I was screaming and trying to break the windows and trying to unlock the door, but I had a key ring with TONS of keys on it and it was pitch black and I didn't know which key to use, and I was sobbing and screaming and the house was blazing. It was awful and it seemed SO real. I woke up from that around 1 AM and had was so shook up that I didn't get back to sleep until 4 AM. Then I woke up again at 5:15 AM and stared at my ceiling until it was time to go to work.

I worked at Old Navy until 11 AM. I gotta say, despite the early hours that the job demands, I really like that job, mainly because I work with really cool guys. They crack me up. I think they might actually be making me MORE sarcastic. Beware...

Then I didn't have to work at the sock store until 1:30 PM, so I went to my favorite Starbucks (there are 40 of them in downtown Seattle) and devoted two hours to reading
my book which is soooo good. (Thanks mommy)! Then I went to work until 6:30 PM. Now I am home. And tomorrow I get to do exactly the same thing.

Incase you can't tell by my frequent use of Brian Andreas's quotes in my recent blog entries, I've been in love with his writing lately. I read this one today while I was in a little gift store and I seriously almost started crying right there in the store. There is something about his writing that is so bittersweet. I love it.

"She moved with the grace of a cat & her tongue licked
at the corner of her lips & I'm sure she would have
helped me if I could have said I am just a child &
don't know what to do, but I was just a child & didn't
know how to tell her about those new & raw places in
my heart, so she stood there in the dim light with her
hair like a cloud of perfume around her face & neither
of us spoke & now I wish I could go back & hold her &
say someday we will laugh & ache about this."

"For the tears and the fare thee wells, for a moment stand real still and you'll feel me moving on..."

-The Indigo Girls

Waiting for my brother to call... tick tick tick...

I had fun last night at Maly's goodbye schindig. I went swimming for the first time in at least 3 years, and it felt sooo nice. I'm usually more of a hot tub person, but the hot tub was closed, so we all got in the pool and even though we were all freezing, it was still really fun.

I spent all morning looking at grad school stuff online because I found a website that has a listing of every grad school in the country that has a Masters of Music program. I found several, a few that stand out include Arizona, Michigan, Montanta, Indiana, Chicago, and Manhattan. But the one that jumped out at me the most was the University of Denver. I'm getting major vibes. I sent away for a packet... we'll see.

I have the day off. I have to go downtown and get my schedule from Old Navy and as long as I have to go down there anyways, Amber-face and I are going to make an ice cream stop. Other than that, I hope to spend the day practicing, reading, and cleaning. Once again, we'll see...

"I only do this until I get dizzy then I lay down on my back and watch the clouds, she said... u won't believe how many people forget the second part"

-Brian Andreas

It was fun having Scotty-face here, even if it was only for about 12 hours. He came and hung out in the sock store until I got off of work, then we went to the store and got some frozen pizzas and came back here and watched "The Princess Bride." Then at 2:41 AM, the fire alarm went off in my apartment complex. It turned out to just be some weird malfunction, but that wasn't a fun thing to wake up to. It was funny because we were both really tired and weren't thinking clearly and we sat in the living room for about 5 minutes as the fire alarm was going off before Scott sleepily said "Maybe we should evacuate the building." (We're quick thinkers). As we evacuated the building, the fire department was entering, and within one minute the alarm was off. Thank goodness. That thing is loud.

I have today off, so I'm going to do laundry, clean my room, read my book, and practice my new Beethoven Sonata. Tonight I'm going to Maly's good-bye party. Maly is (was) one of my sock coworkers and she is really cool and I'm sad that I won't be working with her anymore. But life goes on.

I think I'm going to go browse the internet and freak myself out about grad school. I'm feeling a little too relaxed right now.

And now, a guest blog appearance by Scotty Pez!

Hello all!

No news yet, but great news, all at the same time.

My interview in Everett was even better than my interview in Kennewick. The staff was great, the city is awesome, even better than I expected. After the interview, the city editor took me for a walk around town. He told me he's not allowed to give job offers on Friday... but that he'll call me on Monday! We talked about the Washington Post Co.'s benefits, a possible start date, etc... probably three-four weeks from now. After getting coffee and chatting outside the county government center, we returned to the newsroom, which overlooks what I believe is called Possession Bay, where the U.S.S. Lincoln aircraft carrier (the "Mission Accomplished" boat) happened to be docked.

I told him I'd take the job if he offered it... and he said he thinks I'll be happy come Monday!

He then asked when he thinks I'll be by the phone Monday, and where he should try to call me... Monday morning would be best, he said. I told him I'll be at work, but to go ahead and call me there... I can always run home and call him back.

So there you have it! I don't have the job yet, (and I won't breathe easy until I do), but the future can't possibly be any brighter.

Everett is a wonderful place, and the newspaper is award-winning. Several of the reporters have been there for a long time. Also, there are a couple other new reporters, including a county reporter who I'm sure I'd be able to work well with. My would-be partner is a girl named Diana Heffley... we'd be covering the crime beat together, as Sunny and I covered Calaveras County. Another pleasant surprise was a copy editor, Katie (can't remember her last name), who was on the Emerald with me. I didn't even recognize her until she said "Hey Pez!" as only she could. We laughed, then talked about the good ole' days (such as late-night 'Hot Dog Football' after women's basketball games... in which I'd bring extra hot dogs back from Mac Court and play football with them in the newsroom). Needless to say, Katie was quite amazed when I told her I've been writing news for the past four years. "That's quite a change for you, Pez!" she said.

Anyway, I must be going. I'm dead tired, and hungry. I get home Saturday afternoon and work on Sunday... then comes Monday, which will hopefully be one of the best days I've had in a long time.

This trip might go down as one of the most important in my life... all I can do now is wait, and hope... and wait some more.

Keep your eyes out for my press release!!!

-Scott

p.s. I was so stoked after I left Kennewick, I stopped at Best Buy in Yakima and bought the Lord of the Rings, Return of the King soundtrack. Now, imagine me in a beige Ford Taurus, racing across the baren Central Washington tundra, listening to (on repeat) the track when the signal beacons are lit.... WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"My darling you are all science fiction..."

-Michelle Tea

I just thought I'd take a minute and let everyone know that I might be okay. I spent the day practicing and I learned the first page of a new Beethoven Sonata and I got a few tips of guidance from Alex, which is pretty much a miracle, and I took a ten minute nap. I still am kinda freaking out about grad school, but really, when am I not freaking out about grad school?

Oh, and Amber and I have a new roomate. We decided that it might be a safe move to have a boy living with us as a form of protection. So we do, and his name is Toby, and he is black and furry. (For those of you who are, ahem, "slow", Toby is a dog).

I got a bumper sticker in the mail today from Jacob that says "Is that a PEZ in your pocket?", and that pretty much topped off my recovery from this morning.

Scotty-face will be here tomorrow! He has his interview and then is coming to use me for my apartment. I'll probably barely see him because I work all day Saturday and then am going to a good-bye party for one of my sock co-workers on Sunday evening... but a little time is better than no time at all, right?

Sigh. Grad school. Ick. Blech. Yay. Something...

Peace.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW I'M SUPPOSED TO GET INTO GRAD SCHOOL WHEN I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER HOW TO PLAY PIANO AND BESIDES THAT I CAN'T THINK OF ANYWHERE I WOULD WANT TO LIVE EXCEPT FOR WASHINGTON (WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET INTO), CANADA (WHICH IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE), NEW YORK (WHICH IS TO EXPENSIVE TO BE TRUE), AND I'M FREAKING OUT AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I SPEND HOURS DOING NOTHING BUT LOOKING ONLINE AT GRAD SCHOOL STUFF AND IS IT BAD IF MY LARGE ROMANTIC WORK AND MY ETUDE ARE BOTH BY CHOPIN AND I REALLY NEED ALEX TO WRITE ME BACK ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS BUT HE PROBABLY WON'T SO I'M GIVING HIM THREE DAYS BEFORE I CALL THAT CRAZY RUSSIAN AND I AM GOING INSANE.

"There are your fog people and your sun people, he said. I said I wasn't sure which kind I was. He nodded. Fog'll do that to you, he said."

-Brian Andreas

I got an e-mail from Shareka yesterday with a picture of her baby and it made me want to cry. I miss her bunches. I can't believe she is a mom now.
Fwd: me and my Baby

Work was kinda stressful today. I'm not sure why exactly, but I wasn't in a good mood at all. Luckily the downstairs storage room needed to be cleaned, so at least that gave me an excuse to spend a good half hour of my day away from people. Because people can be annoying.

After work, Amber face picked me up and we headed off to Kat's place to help her move in all of her stuff. The problem was that the directions that I recieved were missing the first half, so Amber and I drove around aimlessly and then finally made contact with Kat, but even then it was really hard to hear her because of the bad reception I was getting. I thought I was writing down the right directions, but in reality I was writing down wrong words, (Milton instead of Renton) and really messing things up. But Kat assured us that when she drove there from our place last week, it only took her about half an hour.

So one hour and forty-five minutes later, Amber and I finally got to Kat's place. (Shush). There was alot of stuff to move, not to mention the stairs to climb, but I think it went pretty smoothly. Afterwards we sat around and ate pizza and then we all started slipping into coma-like states, which is when Amber and I left.

Its kinda late/early and I wasn't going to blog, but the event that inspired me was just so terrifying that I had to get this out of my system. This was about twenty minutes ago and I was sitting at my computer talking on the phone and all of the sudden I look up and see that a cat had climbed through my window and stuck its head through my blinds. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Alll the lights in my room are off so all I saw was this head with big eyes and it was absolutely terrifying!!!!

All is okay now. I shut my window and the cat is gone. But it will be awhile before my heart rate is back to normal.

"I thought I'd drunk-dial you like you did to me that one time several times."

-Adam

Thanks for the message you left last night Adam! It made me feel special to finally have someone return the favor.

Amber and I had a totally poodly night last night. We bought a bunch of art supplies and when I got home from work at 9 PM we spent hours just painting and coloring and being artistic poodles and it was soooo theraputic.
Fwd: A Picture Share!

I work tonight and pretty much all day tomorrow, and then tomorrow after work Amber and I are going to go help Kat-face move into her new place! I'm so excited that she is moving here!

Um.... I don't have anything else to say. My apologies for a boring blog entry. But I really need to go practice. I start lessons again in three weeks!

"Erin, GO TO BED!!!"

-Amber, when I came in the door looking like death.

I am very proud of Amber because she took a shower, washed her hair, BRUSHED her hair, washed her face, brushed her teeth and put on clean clothes!!!

What a woman.

Even though she still isn't wearing deoderant.

"For me, this is the loveliest and the saddest landscape in the world."

-The Little Prince.

I thought that last night was going to be a mellow night, but as we all know, those are the nights where you end up staying up until the sun comes up, which is what happened last night because there was a piano recital that we all went too and then we met up with Alex and the musicians that had played in the recital and then the bar closed so Alex and I went to his house and got all of his alcohol and brought it to Karli's place and we spent the entire night drinking scotch and playing piano and taking pictures and I think I'll make this whole entry one big run-on sentence and I had so much fun sitting at the piano with Alex and Karli until 4 in the morning and we had some really good conversations and I think it was the perfect way to end my time in Ashland and now I'm going to go talk to Nancy one last time before I go so peace out.

"Somewhere back there in the dust, that same small town in each of us..."

-Don Henley, The End of the Innocence

I am having so much fun and I don't have enough time to even write about half of what has been going on, but here is a quick rundown.

I flew into Medford on Friday around 11 AM. Stefani picked me up, then we went straight to Gina's place to pick her up, then we went and met up with Meagan at Standing Stone and had lunch and drinks. Generations of piano students unite!
Fwd: A Picture Share!

Then Meagan had to go to a b-day party and Gina had to go to work, so Stefani and I decided to invade Alex's office, which was exciting because Alex had no idea that I was even in town. We had fun, were there for a little over half an hour, then had to go because we were in 15 minute parking. Alex told us he would meet us at midnight for drinks but I didn't believe him. He can be kinda flaky.
Fwd: A Picture Share!

Stefani and I spent a couple of hours downtown, then went back to her place until it was time to go to The Black Sheep. Meagan met us there and after awhile we went to The Siskiyou to visit Gina while she worked, then to Alex's, (the bar, not the person), then BACK to the Black Sheep. Lo and behold, at 11:56 PM I got a text message from Alex saying that he was on his way. He showed up and it was so much fun to chat with him. Then the four of us were joined by Gina and Kim. Eventually the Black Sheep closed and then Meagan had to go, and the remaining 5 of us went back to Alex's, (bar not person) and found Mike and Jason! It was SO GREAT to get to talk to so many of my music poodles all at once! Then that bar closed, (the nerve), and Gina, Kim and Alex all called it a night (losers), but Jason and Mike went back to Stefani's place cuz her roomates were having a party. I had the time of my life talking about music with Jason and Mike and playing piano with them.
Fwd: A Picture Share!

The next morning, Stefani and I went to The Dragonfly for breakfast, and coincidentally Gina and Kim had the same idea, so the four of us ended up having breakfast together. Then we wandered around downtown and did alot of nothing, which was really fun.
Fwd: A Picture Share!

Then it was time to go to Nancy's daughter's wedding. It was in the park and it was really pretty and I got to be with Liz which is nice because she brings out such a calm NORMAL side of me.

The wedding was really nice, and afterwards everyone hung out in the park and mingled and I got to see so many people that I wasn't expecting to see, and most importantly I got to see Nancy! Yay.

Then we all headed off to the reception. Sounds simple enough, right? WRONG. It is HOT here people! By the time Liz and I hiked out of the park and up a million hills to her car and then got in her car that felt like an oven, we were literally covered in sweat. I'm talking WET with sweat. It was gross. But we only had twenty minutes before I had to be there to play piano and there was no time or place to take a shower. So we did the next best thing. We drove to campus, found a sprinkler, and made it our friend. And it felt GREAT.

After that we felt much better (and less sweaty) and we headed off to the reception. The piano was great and really fun to play. We were there for a few hours before we took off.
Fwd: A Picture Share!

Then Liz dropped me off because she had some things she needed to get done, and Stefani and I went to The Black Sheep where Liz met up with us once again. Then we went to The Siskiyou because Gina was working again and the worst band that I've ever heard was playing. It was awful. I know that I've become a total music snob, but this wasn't just me being a snob, it really was bad. After awhile we just couldn't take it anymore, so we went to The Beau Club where I had a vodka on the rocks for my first time ever. We were there until it closed, then we went back to Stefani's. Liz slept at Stef's, which was nice, because it is always so calming to be around Liz.
Fwd: A Picture Share!

The next morning (which was yesterday) the three of us managed to somehow get out of bed and go to breakfast. I had been planning to go to an old piano student's house to hear her play, but then I found out that yesterday was my last chance to see Liz. So instead we wandered around downtown for three or four hours. Then Stefani and I went back to her place and spent two hours being half asleep. Then Meagan came and got us and we all went to The Black Sheep and Liz met us there and we heard Jason's group play. Then the bar closed, so Meagan, Stef, Liz, Mike and I went to The Beau Club and talked until it closed, then went home.

Today has been mellow so far. My body is starting to realize that I've been depriving it of any real sleep. I woke up and walked to Starbucks, then Stefani met me for breakfast, and then I wandered around by myself for awhile. Now I'm at the library distracting Nancy, waiting for 6 PM to roll around which is when I'm going to meet up with Daun! Then I'm going to go keep Gina company at The Siskiyou.

As for the rest of the night, who knows? Maybe I'll do something wildly different... like go to The Black Sheep.

"I tried my best to leave this all on your machine but the persistent beat it sounded thin upon listening and that frankly will not fly."

-The Postal Service, Such Great Heights

I've been doing alot of thinking about how to make world peace a reality and I am proud to state right here on this blog that I have figured out the solution. Everyone needs to start their day EVERYDAY by listening to the CD titled "Give Up" by The Postal Service. I have had it for a few months and every time I listen to it I feel so content and mellow and all around happy. I figure if everyone started off their day by listening to this CD start to finish, there would be no more problems. Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean.

I think this is the most blogs that I have ever posted in a 24 hour period. I got on Amber's computer last night and figured out how to access all of my old photos from my phone and that was way too exciting for me. And I had to post right now because I am SO EXCITED that I'm going to Ashland tomorrow! I just talked to Stefanie and she's all set to pick me up in Medford tomorrow at 11:02 AM. Woo-hoo!

"If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!"

Did you know that August is Admit You're Happy month? Well, it is. And I'm happy. I admit it. And so should you! Because it is August!

I'm happy that I've stuck with piano and had the guts to get my degree in performance even though I knew it wasn't logical. I'm happy that I have the best mom in the entire world and siblings that are the best support system ever. And of course I love my fluffy little poodle and I love Sugar and Lugsy and how every bed I've ever had is described by everyone who sits on it as the most comfortable bed they've ever felt. I'm happy that even when I'm in a big city like Seattle I can go home at the end of the day and pop in a celtic music CD and turn off the lights and picture watefalls and all of the sudden it seems like the city is a million miles away. I'm glad that I've had the most amazing music teachers ever and that I got to study in the SOU music department where I always felt like I was part of a unique (VERY unique) family of people who inspired me more and more. I'm happy that you CAN go home again. I'm happy that I have my Jessica to make me the best mix tapes ever and I'm happy that I have a strong sense of who I am. I'm happy that I have a Gina, a best friend who not only understands ME, but understands how I love piano. I'm happy that Jacob and I are now at the point where I can consider him a friend despite the fact that when I moved out of Ashland, many people, myself included, were sure that I wasn't even going to talk to him ever again. I'm happy that some beautiful person invented Top Ramen and now even if you're broke you can still go get Top Ramen for ten cents a pack. I'm happy that I went to Michigan and had one of the most amazing life-changing experiences I've ever had. I'm happy that me and Meagan finally got to know eachother after being in the same town for four years and I'm happy that I did Les Mis because until I was part of it I had no idea that I wanted to play in an orchestra pit with other musicians for that type of show, and now I know that it would be amazing to do that as a career. I'm happy for rain and wind and oceans and candles and trees and POODLES and CDs that seem to fit like an old shirt. I'm happy that 48 hours from right now I'll be in Ashland visiting people that I love. I'm happy that in a matter of minutes I will be asleep and that tomorrow morning I can sleep in as late as I want.

I'm happy that you all just read my blog.
