"My pockets full of dust, my mouth filled with cool stone, the pale moon opens the earth to its bones..."

-Bruce Springsteen, Matamoros Banks

Have you all heard the latest Bruce CD? It is amazing. But hopefully that goes without saying.

I am really liking having short hair. It is short-short, like above my chin short. And it is all layery and fun, and it feels SO much better and lighter. And more like me. Yay. Today I went to the candy store that is by the sock store because I needed my daily chocolate fix, and the two girls working took one look at me and exclaimed with delight, "Oh my gosh! You cut your hair!"

Nope, I don't spend too much time buying chocolate. Can you tell?

I'm slowly unpacking, but I still have a long way to go. I'd rather practice, or hang out with Amber, or do just about anything else... last night Amber and I made Tator Tot Casserole, and it was sooooo good. My sister-face sent me a beautiful text message yesterday: "There are three things in life that are certain: death, taxes, and tator-tot casserole." I couldn't have said it better myself. Although I do have to put in a complaint that Amber put ketchup on hers. Grrrrrr... us pez's have serious issues with the amount of ketchup that is used in this world. Oh well, I'll work through it, and over time, I'll probably be able to forgive Amber. Probably. Maybe.

I had a really disturbing dream last night. World War III broke out, and it was the end of the world. Really. The world was one big battlefield, and I was with mom, Katie, and Scotty and we were all trying to protect eachother, but there were shots coming from everywhere, and as far as you could see it was just one big field because all of the trees had been burned down. And it was night-time and the only light was from all of the fires that had been set. And people were getting shot and screaming and it was so realistic. It really was.

Anyways, on that happy note...

I was reading through my Blue Lake journal. Here is my entry from a year ago from today:

"9:47 PM! At this time tomorrow, I'll be getting my campers ready for lights out! Oh my gosh! Must go... so nervous!"

I can't believe that was only a year ago... Life is a funny funny thing.

"Vibrators can poke your eyes out"

-Me and Amber

Amber and I think its quite absurd that vibrators are still consdidered illegal in some states. At least we think they are. They were when I did the Vagina Monologues. Weird.

I'm on the phone with Amber and Jessica right now. I figured out how to do three-way calls on my cell phone. danger. DANGER.

Anyways, I'm not in the mood to blog. But Amber and I just wanted to make it very clear that we are MILD, not WILD.

Despite what you may hear...

"These days I'm happy to say I'm amazed that I'm still around..."

-Elton John, Weight of the World

Last night was really fun. Stefanie was in town, and Amber and I met up with her and her friend. Amber and I can't remember her friend's name. We think it was either John or Dave. But we just can't be sure.

We started out at this place and had a few drinks and talked at rapid speed about a bunch of different stuff. Then we decided to try to find another fun place to go. We wandered around Capitol Hill, stopping at a gas station, (I bought chocolate), then wandered around more. After awhile we came to the conclusion that we weren't going to find a place that called to us, so we just went back to the place that we had been at before, had some more drinks, and REALLY good pretzels. Then we all walked back to our transportation units, but first we made sure to all share a group hug. It was beautiful.

Amber and I got home a little after 2 AM and Scotland's friends showed up a little before 3 AM. They slept on our floor and left around noon this morning. They left us cookies, and that made us happy.

I am a very tired poodle.

"Macs are easy. You just have to know how to talk to them."

-The computer guy

Guess where I am? My apartment! Because I finally have the internet. It has been quite a struggle, apparently the world is being taken over by PC people. But a mac guy came by today and had the internet running in less than ten minutes. Yay!

Life has been busy lately. Amber and I are trying to get settled in to our new apartment but there is just so much to do all the time. I'm still not even unpacked. My room looks like it was hit by an earthquake. My piano moved into the apartment on Monday, and I love having her in my room! (Yes, my piano is a "her".) Speaking of piano, Gina flies into Seattle on the 9th of July! And Stefanie is in town at this very moment, but I might not see her until tomorrow.

I got my hair cut yesterday. It is right at my shoulders now. But I'm not satisfied, so I'm going to go even shorter. I just made an appointment to chop it all off. I'm tired of having so much hair. It'll grow back.

I tried hooking up my digital camera to my computer today but the CD rom won't install because apparently I don't have the right system... or something. Does anyone know if there is a different CD rom I can use, or do I have to update my entire computer?

Scotland called me today and said he has some friends that are in town to play a show tonight and that they might need a place to stay. So we might have overnight apartment-guests.

I've been sooooooo tired lately, but despite my tiredness I can't sleep. I'm exhausted throughout the day, then night time rolls around and I just lay in bed and look at the ceiling, or talk on the phone, or read...

Speaking of reading, (I'm so good at transitions), here is a book survey that I'm stealing from my sister's blog:

1) Total number of books owned:
Unfortunately, I think that I only have around 50 books. It is very sad. I move around so much that I always just think of having to pack books, and how heavy they are, so I usally check out books from the library, or borrow from my mommy-face.

2) Last book bought:
Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy.

3) Last book read:
Death be Not Proud. I actually didn't like it. The story itself had good potential, but the writing style was all wrong.

4) 5 books that mean something:
-"Animal Farm" by George Orwell. The book is so great in how it shows the way that people (or farm animals) can be taken over. Its scary, and sad. Poor Boxer.
-"The Lovely Bones". There is something about this book that really stirs me up inside. I've read it several times, and every time I read it I get more and more out of it.
-"Are You There God? Its Me, Margaret." I know this is a book for a much younger audience, I but I really think that this is an important book. I remember when I read it right as I was approaching "That Age", and I read it so many times that the spine started to break.
-"Night". There are many books about the Holocaust and of course they are all stirring and haunting, but the last line of this book sends a shiver up my spine every time I read it.
-"The Awakening". I love talking about this book with people. Its always interesting to hear what they have to say. Selfish? Not selfish? Is it bad to be selfish? Oh man, I LOVE talking about books.

5) Book character you would have a romantic rendezvous with:
-I can't think of one.... I'm never really pondering that question when I'm reading.

6)Some people who have to reply to this:
-Adam, Adam, and um... who else... hey, I know! Adam should!

"I don't want to go back."

-My brother, right before he left Milwaukie on Sunday.

I had a great weekend. Read all about it on my sister's blog! Then I don't have to write anything! Heh.

"The cat came back the very next day, the cat came back, yeah they thought it was a goner, the cat came back it just wouldn't stay away."

-Harry Miller

I had SUCH a fun weekend, because I spent it with
my sister-face!!! Katie arrived at about 5:30 AM on Saturday morning, and we chatted for about an hour and then Katie-face needed a couple more hours of sleep, so she crashed on the couch while I went to the store to get food for breakfast because I literally have NO food at my apartment, due to the fact that it is all at my new place. So I went and got us a party pizza. Now I know you all are thinking "Erin, that is not a healthy breakfast", but don't worry. I got cookies too. I also chugged some coffee at the store, because my coffee maker is at my new place as well.

We hung around my apartment for awhile then headed downtown to the Pike Place Market. We found an amazing place that sells cheese, cheese, and more cheese, and we had the best macaroni and cheese EVER. It was seriously a life-changing experience. Then we got some coffee and wandered around to all of the little shops until we were hungry, and then we went to Red Robin. We each ordered a different hamburger, then gave eachother half of what we had ordered, so we got to have two different yummy food options! I was very proud that we had such a great idea. Then we went shopping at Old Navy and I used my employee discount for the first time, and man did it save us money! I suddenly love that job alot more! Then we went to a little bar and we each got a drink and a salad, then I went to work while Katie wandered around downtown. After work we met at the bar in the lobby of The Westin, then went to catch the bus. When we got back to my place we drank some wine, ate another party pizza, (naturally), and watched TV until we fell asleep.

The next morning we woke up around 8:30ish and slowly got ready for the day. I was sitting on the couch when all of the sudden I heard meowing and there was a cat on my deck, meowing at me through the glass door!!! EEEEEE!!! How did a cat get on my deck? It scared me. But then I realized how scared it seemed and then I picked it up and put it out the front door so it could go back home.

Then Katie and I went to Southcenter because we just hadn't done enough shopping the day before! First we stopped by Starbucks, (I know I'm an addict, sue me), then we went to Target and found even more clothes that we absolutely had to buy, and then we went to the Olive Garden and had REALLY good food.

After that, we got on the bus to back to my neck of the woods, but first we made a stop at the grocery store to get some well needed sister-movie-time-food. Then we got back to my place and watched Some Kind of Monster, which was really good, and part two of season six of Sex and the City. We drank wine, rum, and ate another party pizza (damn those things are good), popcorn, grapes, cheese, and stuffed mushrooms. All in all, a night of absolute perfection.

Around 1 AM I was about to happily fall asleep when Katie and I heard a meow outside my FRONT door. The cat at the backdoor was strange enough, but this was just weird because I had NEVER had a cat try to get into my apartment before! So I ignored it. But the meowing got louder. So then Katie went to look at it and she came back and said it was trying to get in, so then I decided to try to find its owner, but by then everyone in my building was asleep, so I decided to just go back inside and let the cat meow until its owners found it. That is when the cat went from cute to psycho. I can't even explain it, but it started scratching on my door and it seriously sounded like this cat was the size of an elephant, and then it started meowing really scary-like, and it was SO WEIRD. Then out of nowhere it just stopped. It was one of the most bizarre things that has happened in a long time.

Katie left this morning around 6:30 AM. I waited outside with her for the cab to come, and right as the cab showed up, so did the psycho cat! Katie and I were seriously frightened. That cat is scary. I'm glad I'm not going to be sleeping in that apartment anymore.

That's right folks, I have a new place, and I have a new addition as well. Yep, Amber is now going to be living with me. I haven't written about it because it really involves alot of Amber's business that I have no right to broadcast to the blog world. But yes, we moved her stuff up on Thursday and we have a really cute new place, and it is SO CLOSE to downtown which I am very happy about.

Anyways, this was quite a blog entry! Now I'm going to my old place to pack up the rest of my stuff that we didn't get on Thursday and Amber and I are going to try to move as much of it today as we can. And I'll probably practice too. And I need to go to the grocery store. I wonder what I should buy...

I think I'm in the mood for a Party Pizza.
